Last week brought devastating news, as his wife, Brigitte Poublon, revealed that the 81-year-old had been diagnosed with stage four cancer.
After receding from the spotlight, Sherman became a Reserve Officer with the LAPD and a Reserve Deputy with the LASD. Sherman dedicated a significant portion of his life to serving his community and ensuring public safety. In addition to his law enforcement duties, he was certified as a paramedic, which allowed him to provide critical medical assistance in emergency situations. His expertise in emergency medical care was not only beneficial during his street duty but also extended to providing first aid training within the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. He also took on the responsibility of training recruits at the LAPD academy, where he imparted his knowledge and experience to the next generation of law enforcement professionals.
His hard work and commitment did not go unnoticed; in recognition of his exceptional service, he was honored with the prestigious title of LAPD Reserve of the Year in 1999.
